In November 2011, CERA (Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Agency) responded to public demand by allowing access to a fenced off section of Christchurch Cathedral Square for a limited time. This was an opportunity for people to see for themselves the new face of the city in all it's gory glory. Whilst sobering and depressing, the experience also allowed many residents of the city, myself included, to better come to terms with the reality and scale of what, for the previous 9 months, had otherwise been kept accessible only to some media and visiting (albeit, well meaning) celebrities. I took my camera in with me and this video is drawn from that footage. There was something comforting about seeing people in the square again, even if it did feel a little like being trapped in an 'et al.' art installation. The music in this final part of 'CBD' hopes to suggest a tentative healing and acceptance.
