This documents a two week wood sculpture project at Lincoln University by Timothy Mark in the courtyard of Landscape Architecture. The project began when the sculptor was invited to attend the conference 'Movers and Shakers' which brought together landscape Architects, and City Planners to attend series of lectures on Sustainability as it relates to the general area of the Christchurch rebuild.'Project Tom Sawyer' involved the sculptor working publicly during the day using salvaged tree roots to create to interactive sculptures while engaging with conference attendees, passing students, staff, administration and visitors to the campus throughout the weeks and during Lincoln Universtity's Open Day. Visitors could observe the daily evolution of the sculpture and were invited to touch and carve wood themselves.
